WEEKEND COURSE
As part of the course, participants:
WEEKEND COURSE FOR PULLEMENT GILD PLATING OF FLAT SURFACES FOR POLISHING USING THE AUTHOR'S METHOD
- they will acquire knowledge of the traditional technique of pulp gilding using natural materials (Lefranc bolus, loose gold) and using the organizer's own method, obtaining the effect of high polish and satin without imperfections;
- during four-hour lectures, they become familiar with the properties of materials used in the discussed technique and the relationships between them, increasing the awareness of decisions made (mortar, pulp, gold, binder, gilding tools); they will consolidate the acquired knowledge in planned exercises;
- before starting gilding, they will become familiar with the variety of mistakes that can be made in this method;
- they will sharpen knives and polish agates themselves;
- they will complete the main task of the course, i.e. they will carry out a series of tests on samples prepared by the organizer and gild the canvas for the icon of their choice, taking into account the ornament (for those interested);
Individual consultations are also planned, covering the participants’ previous achievements based on the submitted works or photographs (for those interested).
In this method, participants do not use sandpaper or synthetic materials. All materials used are of natural origin and ensure high durability of the gold.
The course will be conducted by a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts. Jan Matejko in Krakow, Katarzyna Różańska-Doligalska, working at the Department of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art. Her main area of interest is the reconstruction of old gilding and painting techniques using historical materials and methods.

REGISTRATIONS
Maximum number of students – 8 people. Workshops are held in groups of at least four people. Registration is based on the order of applications.
Registration requires an advance payment of PLN 400. The prepayment is non-refundable in the event of resignation from participation in the course. Prepayment must be made within three business days from the date of completing the application form, which will be equivalent to the registration. Payment details will be sent in an email confirming receipt of your application.
The organizer undertakes to refund the prepayment to the participant if the course is canceled.
The remaining payment must be made by transfer to the organizer’s account by the start of the course.
MATERIALS
Materials provided by the organizer – pulp, binder, jars, brushes for pulp and binders.
Participant’s materials – canvas, gold, gilding tools (knife, pillow, gold brushes). The tools will be necessary to complete the main task of the course.

The knowledge and skills acquired during the course can be used by participants to create their own works, sell them and present the effects of work, while any transfer and disclosure of information about the technique used (presenting tools, techniques, stages of work, giving lessons, tutoring, conducting courses, etc.) . to third parties, in particular but not exclusively through means of electronic communication), which is a business secret, constitutes an act of unfair competition, and the person committing such an act may be held liable for civil liability, as provided for in Art. 11 of the Act on Combating Unfair Competition.
